Obituary for Arthur Dean James

Arthur Dean James died unexpectedly in his Chicago home on Monday, March 20, 2017. Arthur would have celebrated his 91st birthday on April 16th.

Arthur is survived by his two nieces, Darby Colwell and Wendy Cummings, three great nephews and one great niece and four great great nieces. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Wilson James and Ruby Grace James as well as his sister Margie Larkin.

Arthur was born in Topeka, Kansas. After graduation from Topeka High School, Arthur enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific area aboard the cruiser the USS Wichita during 1944-1946. After an honorable discharge Arthur attended Washburn University and received a B.B.S. from The University of Kansas. He worked for the Department of Army in Washington D.C. and Moline, Illinois until 1957. Arthur continued his education earning an M.B.A from Cornell University and a M.S. from DePaul University in Economics.

Arthur, a Chartered Financial Analyst, was employed by the Continental Illinois Bank of Chicago working in the Trust Department and advanced to the position of First Vice President.

Arthur lived in downtown Chicago and enjoyed concerts, opera and travel. He left a lasting legacy with many close friends both in the U.S. and abroad.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors and Interment following is being planned at Mt. Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, KS.
