Obituary for Benjamin Ortiz Sr.
Benjamin Ortiz, Sr., January 7, 2023. Long time resident of the southwest side of Chicago. Beloved husband of Juana (nee Reyes) Ortiz. Cherished father of Juan L. (Sonia) Ortiz, Leonor (Osiel) Rivera, Benjamin Ortiz, Jr., Maria L. Ortiz, Nydia (Gerardo) Carrillo and Marcos (Noemi) Ortiz. Adored grandfather of Eliana, Emma, Leyla, Gael, Emily, Orlando, Jackie, Mateo and Abel. Benjamin was a devoted brother of 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Maria Ortiz.
Benjamin came to the United States as a young man at the age of 17. He returned to Mexico and brought his family back in 1978. He loved to play and watch soccer. He enjoyed eating Pizza. Benjamin loved to dance and listen to music. He found relaxation in classical piano playing of Richard Clayderman and Raul Di Blasio. Benjamin was a very social man who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, neighbors and all who knew him.
Services will be held at Central Chapel 6158 S. Central, Chicago, where family and friends will gather on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday, January 14, 8:30 am. at Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. Blase Church, Summit, Illinois.. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery, Alsip, Illinois
