Obituary for Elizabeth Rodriguez

Elizabeth Rodriguez, 85, August 23, 2019, born in Chicago's China-town neighborhood, moved to Taylor Street, Humbolt Park, Puerto Rico and then settled down calling the Southwest side of Chicago, Garfield Ridge neighborhood her home. Beloved wife of the late Victor M. Rodriguez; devoted mother of mother of Manuel (Linda) Santiago, late Larry (Freda) Santiago, late Susan (Bruce) Gondek, and Nancy (Roland, C.P.D.) Rodriguez; loving grandmother of Christopher Lopez, Elvin Soto, Erica Soto, the late Benji Rivera, Desiree Santiago, Bianca Garcia, Danay Tibbs, Jerry Garcia and Manuel Santiago; great-grandmother of Malina Flickinger, Rose Marie Lopez, Xavier Lopez, Destin Santiago and Bryson Tibbs. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Susan Rogers Santiago. Elizabeth was the eldest of 16 brothers and sisters, and a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was a devout Catholic who spent time each daily praying the rosary. She was a "character" with a stern but loving hand. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren could do no wrong in her eyes. Elizabeth was known to many as the "BINGO QUEEN". She enjoyed dancing, cooking and eating with her family and friends. Her presence will be missed by many.

Services at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, where family and friends will gather on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Thursday, August 29, 2019, 9:15 a.m., at chapel, to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 6435 S. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Burial Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
