Obituary for Esther Reyes
Esther Reyes, 95, February 8, 2023, Born in Puerto Rico, long time resident of the Southwest Side of Chicago, Clearing-Garfield Ridge neighborhood. Beloved wife of the late Luis Reyes. Beloved mother of Matilde Reyes, the late Luis Reyes, Jr., Lydia Esther (Jorge) Lomeli, Aida Rokita, the late Alicia (Jorge) Tellez, Elbin (Frances) Reyes and Annette Reyes. Adored Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother of many. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Magdalena Mercado.
Esther was born in Puerto Rico, before becoming a long time resident of Chicago. She was known to many as the “Perfect Homemaker”. Nothing was more important than spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking for folks and was known for her famous rice and beans! Esther’s favorite pass time was gardening. She loved spending time in the garden, which brought much joy to her as well as others. She will be missed by all.
Services will be held at Central Chapel 6158 S. Central, Chicago, where family and friends will gather on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral Service at 12 noon at the Funeral Home.
Burial following will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
