Obituary for Gene Richard Vela
Gene R. Vela, 67, January 7, 2021, longtime resident of South Holland, IL, beloved son of the late Generoso Vela and the late Dolores Gamino; devoted brother of the late Robert Vela; proud and fun-loving uncle of Robert (late), Cynthia, Amber, Ashley, Angelo, Alyssa, and Ava.
Gene worked for over 18 years in the railroad industry with BNSF Railway and RTS Rail Terminal Services , where he was dedicated not only to his work but to the many friends and co-workers whom he thought the world of and the feeling was mutual. Gene was a proud member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local # 705. Gene was a hard working and well respected man. He loved football and treating his nieces and nephews out to family dinners. He simply adored his family and spending time with them. BNSF
Services at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL, where family and friends will gather on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 10 a.m. Burial St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
