Obituary for Gina M. Taylor

Gina M. Taylor (nee Stratton) 57, long time resident of Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2020. She began her life on February 13, 1963 and was welcomed into the family by her mother, Martha, her father, Chris C., her two sisters and her two brothers. Gina was a sweet baby affectionately called “Gina Doll” by her father.
Gina started her education at St. Felicitas Catholic School in 1968. Going from kindergarten to eighth grade she grew to be a scholarly and disciplined student. Moving on from elementary school, she graduated from Lindbloom Technical High School in 1981, where she made many lasting friendships. College education was a journey leading her to a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Roosevelt University. She went on to earn an MBA from Roosevelt University in 2006.
Her ambitious educational pursuits were rewarded with a successful career in accounting and ultimately, she worked for the Cook County Comptroller in Chicago.
In conjunction with her educational journey, she married Jack Taylor. From this union came three children (Octavius, Robert, and Aja). While raising children, maintaining a household, and working a job, she achieved her lifetime goals like a shining star. She loved listening to music, traveling, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her faith in God, her friendly, outgoing, and sweet personality resulted in favor with the many lives she touched.
Gina leaves to carry on her legacy, two sons, Octavius and Robert; one daughter, Aja; two sisters, Theresa (Hubert), and Monica (Keith); two brothers, Christopher (Leon), and Gregory; six grandchildren, JoVaughn, Anez, Alanna, Amani, Sofia and Meeri; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
