Guthrie “Chick” Gipson
79, longtime resident of the South Side Chicago, Canaryville neighborhood.
Beloved son of the late Ernest and Evelyn Gipson (Robinson); devoted husband of 40 years to Doris (Kara); loving father of late Jerrilynn Kara, Matthew Kara, Troy (April) Kara, Irene Gipson, Krystal (Rob) Gonzalez, Evelyn Bell, late Connie (Bill) Hillard; cherished Papa of 29, and cherished great-papa of 10 ½; dear brother of Mary Luna, late William (Marge) Gipson, late Raymond Gipson, and David (Linda) Gipson; also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews, and special niece Michelle Kara.
Chick was an avid fisherman and gardener. He loved being outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered and never forgotten.
Services at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace St., Chicago, Illinois where family and friends will gather on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 3 PM to 8 PM. Cremation following in accordance with his wishes. For those attending services please note wearing of masks are encouraged but not mandatory.
