James Edward O’Brien
55, lifelong resident of Chicago’s Southside, currently residing in Watseka, passed away unexpectedly May 2, 2023. Beloved son of the late Robert and Mary O'Brien (Green); devoted fiancé of Shawn Robey; loving brother of Mary (Kevin) Bergunder, Robert (Suzanne) O’Brien, and Rita (Paul) Rybski; cherished uncle of Tim O’Brien, Katrina Bergunder, Jesse Bergunder, Jessica O’Brien, Robert O’Brien, Cody Bergunder, Haley O’Brien, Dan Rybski, and Emily Rybski; also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jim enjoyed Rock ‘n’ Roll music, playing his guitar, fishing, and watching movies. He loved being outdoors, especially camping or traveling with his family. He was a true Chicago sports fan. Jim will be missed for his kind heart, energetic and outgoing personality.
The family will meet at St. Symphorosa Catholic Church, 6135 S. Austin Ave, Chicago, on Monday, May 8, 2023 for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth.
