Obituary for Jason ""Jay"" Benavides

Jason “Jay” Benavides
47, lifelong resident of the Southside of Chicago- Garfield Ridge neighborhood, May 23, 2023. Beloved son of Lester and Gretchen Benavides (nee Parzych); cherished brother of Nicholas (Ashley) and Brittany (Zackary) Powers; treasured uncle of Brooke and Hannah Mae; also survived by numerous dear friends, and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lambert and Elsa benavides and Frank and Gertrude Parzych
Jay was a lover of all animals, and die-hard Chicago Bulls fan. His family described him as a generous person, who would give the shirt off the back to anyone in need. He had a strong work ethic and was known to many for his outgoing and sociable personality. Jay had a caring, compassionate, humble outlook on life. He was devoted to his family, especially to his nieces, Brooke and Hannah.

Services will be held at Central Chapel 6158 S. Central, Chicago, where family and friends will gather on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday, May 31, 2023 with chapel prayers at 9a.m. To St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 54th and Nashville for a 10 a.m Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
