Maria Elena Saavedra Arellano August 27, 2022, 66, lifelong resident of Chicago.
Beloved wife of the late Jose Benavidez. Cherished mother of Maritza (Elvis) Pantoja and Pedro (Lily) Pantoja. Devoted sister of Viliulfo Saavedra, Luis Saavedra and Francisco Saavedra. Maria was an adored grandmother of Damien Arellano, Adrian Pantoja, Claudia Pantoja, Cristian Arellano, Pedro Pantoja, Jr., Aiyano Puga and Angel Pantoja. She was the daughter of the late Vicente and Vicenta Saavedra (nee Arellano). Maria was known for many things, especially her “huge Heart”. She was very social, very kind, and very outgoing. She made all whom she knew feel as family. Maria was known to have many “adopted” kids throughout the years. Her home was a safe and enjoyable place for all. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and listening to music, especially Spanish “oldies but goodies”. Her furry family, Chacha, Kitty and Lobo gave her daily joy. They all had a special bond with her! Maria will be missed by all and remain in the hearts of many.
Services will be held at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL, where family and friends will gather on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral Thursday, 9 a.m. at Chapel. 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 64th and Kilbourn Avenue, Chicago, Il. Burial Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
