Obituary for Marialena ""Nena"" Barrera
Marialena “Nena” Barrera, 29, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 19, 2022, after a courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Devoted mother of Azariah and Emiliana; beloved daughter of Patricia Medina and Isaias Aguirre Sr.; cherished grand-daughter of Yolanda and Jose Loera and Natalia and Rufino Aguirre; loving sister of Rene Aguirre, Veronica Padron, Jose (Gloria Rodriguez) Barrera, Jazmine Barrera, Isabel Aguirre, Vivianna Aguirre, Isaias Aguirre Jr.,Victoria Rodriguez and Cyndee Loera, and Lori Damiani; dearest niece of aunts and uncles; also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, friends, and life partner Claudia Cruz.
Nena enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing, and make-up. Her family described her as the “Life of the Party!” “You always knew when Nena was around, with her strong and outgoing personality!” Most of all, Nena’s pride and joy was her daughters. She absolutely adored being a mother. She will always be remembered and never forgotten. Her beautiful smile will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL, where family and friends will gather on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, from 3 to 8 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m.. Cremation will follow in accordance with Marialena’s wishes. For those attending services, MASK WEARING IS ENCOURAGED.
