Obituary for Maricela ""Chela"" Alonzo

Maricela “Chela” Alonzo, nee Ramirez, 70, May 11, 2021, longtime resident of the Southwest Side of Chicago-West Lawn neighborhood. Beloved wife of the late Hilario Alonzo; loving mother of Joseph (Monica) Losiak, Michelle (Alberto) Losiak, Robert (Tara) Losiak, late Lisa Losiak, and Monica Alonzo; cherished grandmother of Christina Juarez (fiancé Jason Rojas), Jordan (Marissa) Losiak, Edward Hickey, Jessica Losiak (fiancé Edward), Alexis (Cynthia) Juarez, Robert Losiak Jr., Lillian Losiak, Eric Alonzo, Alexander Esparza, Elijah Diaz, and Elliana Diaz and great-grandmother of Isaiah, Gabriel, Derrick, Jaxson, Josiah, Mea, and Dani; dearest sister of Maria Luisa (Rudy) Sturgeon, Margarita (late Carlos) De Leon, Maria Salazar, Martha (Robert) Quiroz, Maria Guadalupe (late Hector) Perales, Jose Manuel (Lupe) Ramirez, Leopoldo (Rosa) Ramirez, Rosalinda (late Frank) Escobedo, Rodolfo (Patricia) Ramirez, and Gloria (late Cesar) Onate.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leopoldo and Romula Ramirez nee Estrada.

Maricela was a devout Catholic. She would pray numerous times throughout the day, and attended Mass everyday. She was an active member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and member of the Association of the Miraculous Medal. Maricela enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and playing Bingo and drinking coffee with her sisters.

Services at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL, where family and friends will gather on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Tuesday, May 18, 2021, 9 a.m., at chapel, to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 6435 S. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Burial Resurrection Cemetery.

For those attending services, PLEASE NOTE THAT COVID19 RESTRICTIONS FOR MAXIMUM GATHERING WILL BE OBSERVED: 65 PEOPLE AT A TIME AT FUNERAL HOME, 100 PEOPLE AT CHURCH. MASKS REQUIRED.
