Obituary for Martha Christine Avelar

Martha Christine Avelar, 67, December 1, 2020, lifetime resident of the South Side of Chicago-Back of the Yards neighborhood, beloved wife of Hector M. Avelar; cherished mother of Hector R. (Sandra) Avelar, Laura (Victor) Lopez, and Miguel (Letty) Avelar; proud grandmother of Isabella M. Avelar. Loving daughter of Josefina Beatricz Padilla Acosta and the late Felipe Acosta ; devoted sister of Phillip (late), Malena, George, Jose and Patricia; loving aunt and friend to many and will be missed by all.

Martha enjoyed watching the Food Network Channel, and then trying some of the recipes with her family. She especially loved Christmas time, where she would bake an enormous amount of goodies to share with all, accompanied by decorating her home. She enjoyed Rock and Roll music especially from the 60’s. Martha was very family oriented. Loved hosting and attending family gathering and brought joy and laughter to them all. One of her greatest joys was being Grandma to her lovely granddaughter, Isabella. Martha and Hector were longtime parishioners of St. John of God Church, having raised their family there.
