Obituary for Renee Tennant

Renee R. Tennant passed away February 29, 2020, at the age of 68.

Renee was born in Berwyn, grew up in Lake Zurich, and lived her adult life in Chicago. She is the beloved wife of the late T. Derek (“Derk”) Tennant and is preceded in death by her fantastic parents, Roy and Bernice (“Pooh”) Babb. Renee is survived by her fur child, Wrigley, her wonderful in-laws, her dear friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Renee attended DePaul University where she received her Bachelor Liberal Arts degree and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management and Development from National-Lewis University. Throughout her career, Renee worked in various administration-related positions at different companies including Russell Reynolds, Sara Lee, Equity Residential, and Holabird & Root. Renee had a passion for helping people and volunteered as a pet therapist and smoking cessation advocate.

Renee was born on Valentine’s Day which is so appropriate because she had an amazing heart and greatly affected everyone she met. She loved her cat, liked to read, enjoyed watching snowflakes fall, and was an avid Neil Diamond fan. More than anything, Renee loved Derk. As Neil Diamond wrote and sang, “The story of my life is very plain to read. It starts the day you came, it ends the day you leave. The story of my life begins and ends with you.” Renee and Derk are together again – a match that was made and ends in heaven.

A “Celebration of Life” luncheon will be held for Renee at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Renee’s name to Assisi Animal Foundation, P.O. Box 143, Crystal Lake, IL 60039-0143.
