Obituary for Robert Bogatitus

Robert A. "Robb" Bogatitus, 68, December 7, 2018, of Knox, IN, former longtime resident of the southwest side of Chicago; devoted father of Kathryn (Jason) Centanni, Kevin (Gail) Bogatitus, and Kyle Bogatitus; loving 'Papa' of Kristian Bogatitus, U.S.A.F, Brandon, Bryan, Brooke and Brady Centanni; dear brother of Albert (Donna) Bogatitus, Jr., Jane (John) Olson, James Bogatitus, and Mary Bogatitus; preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret Orr Bogatitus, Sr. Also survived by many friends and comrades.

Robb proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Member of Rhine Post # 2729, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Navistar after 43 years, rarely taking a sick day. A loyal Cubs fan, friend to many, especially 'Uncle Steve'. A connoisseur of craft brew, before it was a 'thing', as long as it was in a red can can and made in the USA. Loved to cook, but preferred to grill - charcoal was the way it was done. While he was most comfortable in his jeans and t-shirt, would not miss the chance to pull out his custom suite and suspenders to show us all how it was done. A simple man, with a huge heart for those that were lucky enough to know him. Always smiling, a keeper of peace - proud of his family, his roots and his beloved country.

Resting at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, where family and friends will gather on Tuesday, December 11, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service with Military Honors Wednesday, December 12, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) - www.ihelpveterans.org.
