Obituary for Robert Peter John Black
Robert Black, born April 25, 1931, and passed away March 17, 2023 at the age of 91. Loving son of the late Dr. Jeremiah Black and Mary Elizabeth (nee Mullaney); loving brother of Mary Teresa (John) Bruno, whom he lived with h is adult life with her children; uncle of John (Carol) Bruno Jr., Cathy and Mike Bruno; great uncle of John (Romona) Bruno III, Valerie (Tony) Bambalas, Patrick (Brianna) Bruno, Technical Sergent Crystal (Liliana) Bruno; and many grand nieces and nephews; and his beloved furry dog Keylee.
Brother of his late sisters and brothers, Dorsey (Walter) Shiplov, Marcena (Joseph) Schauer, Jean (Donald) O’Brien, Mercedes (Jerome) Schmidt, Jeremiah (Nancy) Black, Byron (Clara) Black and their children.
He was known by all who knew him as "Uncle Bob". He was in the Army National Guard from 1950 to 1953. He worked until he was 80. He was a member of the Trucker’s Union and walked all the time. He loved history and art in which he was very talented. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially by Mike and Cathy, because he was with them all of their lives.
Services at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace Street, Chicago, IL 60609 on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 3-8 pm. Funeral Thursday, March 23, 2023 with chapel prayers at 9am to St. Gabriel Church, 600 W. 45th St., Chicago for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Beverly Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Advocate Hospice, would be appreciated.
