71, lifelong Canaryville resident, passed away on May 2, 2023. Beloved son of the late John and Lenore King (Donegan); loving brother of the late John “Jack” (Margie) King; and dearest uncle of the late Jackie King; Devoted uncle of Margie Elias, Gigi (Erik) Pappas, Beth (Kevin) Furlong, Kathleen (Matt) Buck, Brian King, Matt (Ellen) King, Kristen (Mike) Prendergast, Maura (Brian) Finn, and Molly (Jason) Samansky and great-uncle of Jimmy, Jenna, Jack, Kevin, Madeline, Paige, Michael, Matthew, Luke, Lily, Patrick, Michaela, Elle, Maura, Sofia, Lucy, Madison, Max, Evan, Charlotte, Lindsey, Sean, Jack, Colin, Sadie, Gus, and Jake; fond cousin of Karen (late Ed) Daly, Edward (Amanda) Daly, Kristen (Brian) Kennedy, Elle and Mara; also survived by lifelong childhood friends.
Bob was a coach and mentor, inspiring many basketball players with his knowledge, integrity, and love of the game. His sense of humor and quick wit were matched by his sensitivity and big heart.
Bob will always be remembered for his kind smile, outgoing personality, and love for his family and friends.
Services at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace Street, Chicago, IL 60609 on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 3-8 pm. Funeral Monday, May 8, 2023 with chapel prayers at 9am to St. Gabriel Church, 600 W. 45th St., Chicago for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial. Cremation following in accordance with Bob’s wishes.
