Helen  Gravante
Helen Gravante, nee Mikalauskas, 71, passed September 26, 2017, longtime resident of the southwest side of Chicago, originally of the Brighton Park neighborhood. Cherished wife of Peter Gravante, Loving mother of Steve (Kimberly) Gravante and Christina (Joseph) Smarzewski. Devoted grandmother of Grace and Emily Gravante and Canine grand pups, Lexi, Tootsie, Penny, Jazzy and Kirby. Held a special place in the heart of her Godchild, Carriane Sherbondy. Daughter of the late Stepas and Jadvyga.

Helen was a devoted nurse (retired from Holy Cross Hospital) who heroically exemplified the commandment to love one’s neighbor by her devotion to her patients and to her family. Nothing made her more happy than advocating for her patients and spending time with her family. She expressed concern for others until the very end. She is fondly remembered by her co-workers and friends and is considered a mother figure by the friends of her children.

Resting at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, where family and friends will gather on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Friday, Sept. 29, 10:15 a.m., at chapel, to St. Turibius Church, 5646 S. Karlov Ave., Chicago. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
