JANET LOUISE KOHRMAN (née Geiger), 97, of Chicago, IL passed away on March 14, 2016. Much loved for her wonderful intellect, thoughtful counsel, graceful manner, charm and humor, she lived a strong, remarkable and productive life. Her endless curiosity and adventurous spirit challenged and inspired. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Kohrman, MD (d. 1977) and Charles Pfeiffer, MD (KIA 1944) and is survived by her children Drew Pfeiffer of East Aurora, NY, Daniel Kohrman of Washington, DC, and Cathryn Collins of New York, NY, her four nieces, six grandchildren and many dear friends. A graduate of the University of Chicago (BA '40, MSW '49) she was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice for most of her life who worked at Michael Reese Hospital, was a lecturer and administrator at the University of Chicago School of Social Services Administration, a counselor at Chicago's Juvenile Protective Association (JPA). A founder of the Institute for Clinical Social Work (ICSW) and from its beginnings a supporter of the National Association of Social Workers. She was devoted to the advancement of social work and social workers. An evening at the Steppenwolf Theater was one of her great joys in life. Goodnight Janet, and thanks for all the memories.
