Obituary for Kathryn Ruth Mullins

Kathryn Ruth Mullins
Kathryn Ruth Mullins, Kathy to many, died after a long illness on Saturday, December 27th, 2014. For those who know her well, she was a fun-loving, witty, and brilliant presence. Conversations were filled with laughter and jokes but also insightful observations and advice when needed. And for those who knew her less well she was always a caring and thoughtful friend.

Kathy attended the Avoca Grade School in Winnetka, IL and completed High School at North Shore County Day school in Winnetka IL, graduating 1968. She then attended Pembroke College (now Brown University) graduating in 1972 with a degree in studio art. She moved to Cambridge, MA to begin her career in advertising. She continued her career in Los Angeles and then finally in Chicago producing brilliant commercials for TV and crafting witty and distinctive one-liners for a range of products. In 1970’s she won several Clio awards for her commercials.
Her second more recent career was as a yoga instructor. She achieved her Yoga Certification several years ago and taught classes in Chicago area studios.

Kathy was loved by many and will be missed dearly. She is survived by her sisters, Ann Mullins and Susan Mullins, her sister in law Denise Mullins and her nieces and nephews: Matt and Will Johnson; Taylor, Forest and Logan Schaefer; and Kirstin and Thomas Mullins; Carter Magnell; Gretchen Frank; and the extended Frank family. Rest in peace, we love you Kathy.

All are welcome to a remembrance service to be held at 10:30 on Wednesday the 31st of December at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago at North Michigan Avenue at Delaware place. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
