The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Lois Bateson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

I am Lois’ youngest sibling. Lois, because you were just a couple of years older than me I often looked up to you for guidance. Even when we were little I learned things like how to play well with others, be fair, and how to be a good friend by lots of games of hopscotch, dolls, hide and seek, and board games. As we grew older (through your actions) you taught me other important things like empathy, kindness, unconditional love, how to be a giving person, help others even if it’s just a smile they might need, an ear to listen, or a good belly laugh. There is a saying that goes something like…. There are things in life that we don’t want to happen, but we have to accept; things we don’t want to know, but have to learn, and people we can’t live without, but have to let go. Though your body was badly damaged and you could not stay with us here on earth, I know your beautiful, amazing spirit is all around us. I love you and thank you for all those important things I learned simply by having the privilege of being your little sister.
